After Nepal, I didn’t care too much for dogs. Not because I have no heart, but because I learned the very difficult way that you can not get attached to dogs living in a developing country. It. Will. Break. Your. Heart.
After last summer, all I wanted was a furry friend to help me heal. But moving, a new job, grad school apps, and life got in the way. But after Vermont (read Pieate) I was determined. And then today I got a canine commandments from a very wise lady in my life, and the number one rule is this:
My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful to me. Remember that before you buy me.
Well played Sar. So while a puppy might make my last summer in Milwaukee great, a life in Chicago where I am gone all day, most days, is not the ideal life for a puppy. So for now I’ll just settle being a Aunt to the likes of this one:
